Topic: “Ethics & Compliance Leadership in a Time of Crisis”

Summary: Randy Klatt, VP of Ethisphere Services, will host a conversation with Chris Graham, SVP of Compliance & Ethics at Georgia-Pacific, and John Pawloski, SVP Global Ethics and Compliance Officer for Assurant, on how they are leading their companies through these challenging and ever-changing times.  They’ll discuss the different ways their companies and compliance programs have been impacted, how they adapted, and what they’ve learned along the way.  Topics covered will include Remote Program Management, New Compliance Challenges, Supporting a Strong Ethical Culture,  and more.

Our Presenters:

Randy Klatt serves as the Vice President of Ethisphere Services and is responsible for client engagement here on the East Coast and in the EMEA regions.  He joined Ethisphere in the fall of 2016 after a successful career in the legal services industry, including having served in both sales and sales management roles over 19 years at Thomson Reuters.  Having spent over 9 years in the governance, risk and compliance industry, his focus is partnering with our customers to guide them through the complex, regulatory and compliance environment. He received his B.S. in Economics & Business Administration from Illinois College.

Chris Graham is Senior Vice President, Compliance & Ethics at Georgia-Pacific.  Prior to working at GP, Chris was the General Counsel for INVISTA and an in-house lawyer for Koch Industries in Wichita, Kansas. Before working for the Koch family of companies, Chris was a partner with Hunton & Williams in Richmond, Virginia. He came to Hunton & Williams after serving as a Captain in the United States Army as a Judge Advocate at Fort Benning, Georgia.  Chris attended Tulane Law School where, in addition to his Juris Doctor degree, he received a Certificate of Specialization in Environmental Law. He also was a member of the prestigious Tulane Environmental Clinic. For undergraduate, he graduated from the Cornell University College of Arts and Sciences with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.

John N. Pawloski is the SVP, Global Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer for Assurant. In his role, John leads our Global Ethics and Compliance efforts, including our commitment to our Code of Ethics. As Global Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer, John is responsible for overseeing and managing regulatory compliance for the organization both domestically and internationally which includes leading enterprise compliance efforts including designing and implementing internal controls, policies and procedures to assure compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations. John’s portfolio includes compliance risk assessment, policy development, communication and training, corporate investigations and regulatory compliance matters.  John comes to Assurant after more than 16 years at USAA, most recently serving as Chief Compliance Officer for USAA’s Enterprise Staff Agencies group. In that role, John led a team who managed the compliance risks facing USAA’s insurance, banking and investment operations. Prior to his career at USAA, John served as in-house counsel for technology and financial services companies, including as General Counsel at SWBC, a firm that provides lender-placed products for auto and home lending. John brings a wealth of experience to Assurant, as well as a sophisticated understanding of our businesses and a passion for compliance and ethics. Importantly, John is known for collaborating closely with business leaders to build compliance programs that drive sustainable and ethical business growth.
